George Brucia is a senior executive with over 30 years’ experience in Information Technology, Business Operations and Telecommunications. He joined The Ponder Group as a Partner in 2008.
In his role, Mr. Brucia has held pivotal consulting roles in a number of high profile engagements. As a result of major problems with outsourced applications required to support the 2010 Census, he took a leadership role in analyzing the situation and made recommendations to the Director of the Census, and briefings to the House Appropriations Committee and the Senate Appropriations Committee resulting in a major re-structuring of the contracts and redistribution of work to enable the 2010 Census program to continue and meet required milestones. In addition he was part of a senior team that led the implementation of the Census Operational Control System, required to complete the 2010 Census.
Prior to that, at the request of the Chancellor of the New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE) he worked as an IBM Executive Partner overseeing the implementation of their ARIS system. This application provided a required set of functionality necessary to support the New York City Mayor and Chancellor‘s education reform plans.
Before that, as a consultant to the New York City Department of Education, he analyzed and restructured the CIO organization, helped to hire a new CIO, planned and implemented a major modernization program for the NYCDOE. In addition and in support of the Mayor and Chancellor, he participated on a team responsible for the creation of an RFP, vendor selection and contract negotiation of a major application required to support the largest education reform ever attempted.
Prior to joining the Ponder Group as a Senior Partner with the CIO Solutions Group, he had consulting roles with U.S. Technologies, where he analyzed markets for Healthcare BPO, looked at acquisition candidates, created Business Plans and launched new Business Unit focused on Business Process Outsourcing. In addition, he consulted with WellPoint Health Networks, where he was responsible for the planning and implementation of IT merger-related activities in support of the Anthem/ WellPoint merger; analysis planning and implementation of a stabilization program for Customer Services functions; made a major contribution to the successful outsourcing of the Data Center infrastructure to IBM and re-do of master contract with Verizon and assisted with the implementation of the IBM contract.
Before CIO Solutions, Mr. Brucia was the President of the Solutions Group at Computer Horizons Group. In this role, his team provided commercial and federal, state and local clients throughout the U.S. with end-to-end Information Technology solutions and consulting services. During his tenure revenue was increased from less than twenty million dollars to one hundred plus million dollars.
Prior to Computer Horizons Group, Mr. Brucia had an extended career with AT&T in a number of departments including several Vice President roles in that company’s Year 2000 Program, Operations and Service Management.
Mr. Brucia attended Pace University and was a graduate of AT&T’s Executive Development Program and Boston University’s Advanced Management Program.
